About TK Profit Calc
TK Profit Calc is an independent publishing site focused on TikTok Shop pricing, fee analysis, and profit calculation tools.
Independent Developer & TikTok Shop Seller
Solo project, maintained in spare time since 2024
— I'm a TikTok Shop seller who built this tool after miscalculating fees on my first product launch and losing money.
— With a background in software development and data analysis, I created a transparent, accurate calculator that I wish existed when I started.
— This is a community contribution project, not a commercial product. Core features are free and always will be.
Why I Built This
In late 2023, I launched my first product on TikTok Shop — a beauty device I sourced from Alibaba. I calculated the costs, set the price at $42, and felt confident in my 35% projected margin.
Three months later, I had sold 180 units and lost $2,800.
The problem? I miscalculated FBT fees (thought it was $2.50, actual was $3.58), underestimated creator commission (set at 12%, but no one promoted it until I raised to 18%), and forgot to account for return costs. My "35% margin" was actually 8% — and after returns and storage fees, I was in the red.
I looked for better calculators. The ones I found were either outdated (still showing 2022 rates), didn't break down the math, or were paywalled. As someone with a software development background, I decided to build the tool I needed: accurate, transparent, and free.
TK Profit Calc launched in early 2024. It's a solo project I maintain in my spare time while still running my TikTok Shop business. The goal is simple: help sellers avoid the mistakes I made.
My Background
I'm a TikTok Shop seller (2023-present) with a professional background in software development and data analysis. This site combines both skill sets:
- Seller experience — I know the pain points firsthand: unclear fee structures, creator commission negotiations, FBT vs self-ship tradeoffs.
- Technical expertise — I build data tools for a living, so I know how to verify rates, structure calculations, and present complex information clearly.
This is not an official TikTok tool, but I follow official TikTok Shop Seller Center documentation rigorously. Every fee rate is sourced and verified.
Why It's Free (and How It Stays Online)
TK Profit Calc is a community contribution project, not a commercial product. I believe fee calculations should be infrastructure — something every seller has access to, not something behind a paywall.
The site is funded through:
- Google AdSense — Non-intrusive display ads (you can use an ad blocker, I won't guilt-trip you)
- Affiliate links — A few tool recommendations (clearly labeled) for services I actually use or researched
These cover server costs (~$15/month) and domain registration. Everything else is my time, which I contribute because I get value from the seller community in other ways (forums, Discord groups, etc.). This is my way of giving back.
Core features will always be free. No freemium model, no "unlock premium," no pay-to-calculate. If this tool becomes successful enough to justify more time investment, I'll add optional features (API access, bulk calculations), but the calculator itself stays free forever.
My Commitment to Accuracy
As a solo maintainer, I can't match the resources of a big company, but I can commit to these standards:
- Monthly audits — I review all fee rates on the 15th of every month, checking TikTok Shop Seller Center documentation for changes.
- Fast error correction — If you report a fee error, I'll investigate within 24 hours and update immediately if confirmed.
- Transparent sourcing — Every fee includes a link to the official TikTok Shop documentation I sourced it from.
- Version tracking — The "Last Verified" date is shown in the calculator. If I fall behind, you'll know.
Mistakes happen (I'm human), but I respond fast and own them publicly.
Project Values
These principles guide every decision I make for this site:
- Education over monetization — If a choice is between "more accurate information" and "more affiliate revenue," I choose accuracy every time.
- Transparency over polish — I'd rather show the math (even if it's dense) than hide it behind "trust us" black boxes.
- Community over growth — I build features based on seller feedback, not what would drive the most traffic.
- Sustainability over scale — This is a long-term project. Slow, steady, and accurate beats fast and viral.
Our Mission
"From guessing to knowing — every seller deserves clear numbers."
Sellers should understand their real margin before they commit budget to inventory, ads, or creator commissions. TikTok Shop fee structures can change over time and can be difficult to interpret, so my goal is to present the math in a simple, consistent, and reviewable format.
TK Profit Calc exists to make that calculation easier with free browser-based tools, supporting guides, and clearly labeled assumptions.
What We Build
TK Profit Calc is a free, browser-based toolkit for TikTok Shop sellers:
- Profit Calculator — See your true net profit with a visual waterfall chart breaking down every fee. Supports US, UK, and EU5 markets. Compare Self-Ship vs FBT vs 3PL side-by-side.
- ROI Calculator — Calculate return on investment across your entire advertising and inventory spend, not just per-unit margins.
- Pricing Strategy Tool — Set a target profit margin and find the minimum selling price that hits it, accounting for all fees.
Our Editorial Standards
Fee accuracy is the foundation of everything we do. Our process:
- Primary source verification. Every fee rate we display is sourced directly from TikTok Shop's official Seller Center documentation — not from third-party blogs or hearsay.
- Cross-checking. We compare published rates across official documentation and live calculator behavior to catch discrepancies that might indicate a recent change.
- Regular audits. We review all fee data at least monthly, and immediately after any announced TikTok Shop policy update.
- Public accountability. The "last verified" date is displayed directly in the calculator. If you find an error, let us know and we will review it promptly.
Fee Data Sources
Our fee rates are sourced from:
- TikTok Shop Seller Center — Official US Fee Schedule
- TikTok Shop UK Seller Center
- TikTok Shop EU5 Seller Center (France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Ireland)
- Manual review of calculator outputs against the current published fee structure
- Last verified: May 15, 2026
If you notice any fee data that appears outdated or incorrect, please report it via our contact form — accuracy is our top priority.
Regional Coverage
We currently support fee calculations for:
- 🇺🇸 United States — 6% unified referral fee (includes payment processing)
- 🇬🇧 United Kingdom — 9% referral fee + separate payment processing (~2.9% + $0.30)
- 🇪🇺 EU5 (France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Ireland) — 9% referral fee + separate payment processing
Southeast Asia market support (Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia) is on our roadmap for late 2026.
Technical Details
TK Profit Calc is built with Astro, React, and Tailwind CSS. All calculations run entirely in your browser — no data is transmitted to our servers. Your selling prices and margins stay completely private.
By the Numbers
A few stats about this project:
- Launched: February 2024
- Markets supported: 3 (US, UK, EU5)
- Update frequency: Monthly audits (15th of each month)
- Response time: < 24 hours for fee error reports
- Uptime: 99.9% (Cloudflare Pages hosting)
- Cost to users: $0, always
This is a long-term project. As long as TikTok Shop exists and sellers need margin calculations, this tool will be maintained and updated.
Contact & Feedback
I'm one person, so I can't offer 24/7 support, but I'm responsive:
- Bug reports & fee errors — I typically respond within 24 hours. These are my top priority.
- Feature requests — I keep a list and prioritize based on how many sellers ask for the same thing.
- General questions — I'll help if I can, but for TikTok Shop policy questions, the official Seller Center is more authoritative.
Reach me via the contact page or email tikprofitcalc@gmail.com. I read every message.
